HR Manager, 12-Month Fixed term, Immediate start, Sydney CBD Location with a salary up to $145k plus super

Your new company

A major government institution is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead their HR function during a period of organisational change and transformation. This is a 12‑month fixed-term position.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will provide strategic HR direction, drive cultural change, and oversee a broad portfolio including workforce planning, employee relations, performance, learning & development, and recruitment.

Your new role

  • Lead and mentor a high‑performing HR team.
  • Deliver expert, contemporary HR advice across all areas of people and culture.
  • Implement best‑practice HR frameworks, policies, and systems.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and provide trusted strategic support to the Executive Team.
  • Oversee workforce planning, capability development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Manage complex HR matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement.
  • Drive continuous improvement and support organisational transformation.

What you'll need to succeed

  • The public sector is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Expertise across the full HR lifecycle, including workforce planning, performance, ER/IR, talent management, policy, learning & development, and change management.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound knowledge of HR legislation, regulations and contemporary HR practice.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, or related discipline (postgraduate or AHRI membership an advantage).
