We are partnered with a Local Government organisation in Brisbane CBD to recruit an Organisational Safety Manager for a temporary contract for up to six months.
Your new role
You'll be stepping into the position of Organisational Safety Manager for an up to 6-month assignment based in Brisbane CBD. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving the implementation of the Zero Harm agenda across the organisation and leading the Organisational Safety Team. You'll provide safety guidance and expertise across multiple groups and ensure WHS governance, compliance, and risk management are consistently met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the Corporate Safety Team to deliver specialist expertise, systems, and tools supporting the Zero Harm strategy.
- Driving WHS governance and compliance, ensuring systems meet or exceed requirements.
- Prioritising, planning, and allocating resources to achieve safety and commercial outcomes.
- Monitoring industry and legislative developments to align strategic direction.
- Providing leadership, guidance, and development to the Organisational Safety Team.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and fostering a positive safety culture.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- WHS qualification and a Class C Driver's Licence.
- Proven ability to lead teams, set clear direction, and develop team members.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, safety culture, and audit processes.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritise effectively, and deliver outcomes.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with CGR, SAP, and Microsoft suite is beneficial.
- Responsiveness, sense of urgency, and ability to operate with integrity and fairness.
